Q: What foundation is required for my Red Iron building?

Typically, you will need a 6” slab-on-grade pad to install your Red Iron steel building correctly. The foundation thickness will depend on the type of building, climate, and soil conditions. You may also be able to install via a concrete pier system (one footer per column), or base girt option, which combines a concrete perimeter and footings. Final foundation requirements are to be determined by your engineered concrete drawings (to be provided by others) and will be based on the final size, weight, and design of your building. Engineered building drawings and anchor bolt plans are included with your Red Steel building system, which can be used to work with a local engineer to purchase the foundation drawings.

Q: Is there a warranty included with my Cold-Form building?

Your Cold-Form building comes guaranteed with a 25 (or 40) year warranty on the panel paint, ensuring your steel building panels looks like new year after year. Available in over 20+ colors for the roof, wall, and trim. Browse our steel building colors on our Color Choices page.

Q: Why build with Cold-Form over wood/other materials?

Unlike wood that can shift, warp, and rot - our Cold-Form Steel Buildings will not crack, expand, or corrode. Fire, mold, and pest-resistant, they are also energy-efficient and require little-to-no maintenance reducing the overall life-cycle cost of your building as they do not have to be replaced as often. Cold-Formed buildings feature a custom manufactured galvanized steel frame - which resists moisture and works well in high-heat/humidity locations, as it will not rust, corrode, or expand when exposed to heat. Engineered for your location to withstand all local seismic loads and weather conditions. Our Cold-Form building system includes 26G (or 24G) PBR roof & wall panels, backed with a 25 year warranty on the panel paint, ensuring your building looks like new year after year. (40 year warranty also available). As an added benefit - Kodiak steel buildings are also virtually 100% recyclable and create no waste from the manufacturing process through to the removal of your building. This helps conserve natural resources and reduce environmental impact, while lasting longer than conventional building products.

Q: Do you offer a building warranty?

Q: Can I install over an existing foundation?

Our steel buildings are out to out steel, and will require a foundation with the same width and length as the building. If your slab is designed to support the weight of your new building, you can epoxy in anchor bolts to install your new steel building over the existing slab (Cold-Form and Red Iron Steel). There are several options for anchor bolts that you can use to attach your steel frame to the existing foundation. Anchor bolt plans are included with your Kodiak steel building system to give you the exact location of the anchor bolts for easy placement when modifying your existing foundation.
